welcome visitors from all over the world

gatehouse

Our gatehouse volunteers are often the first person garden visitors meet when they arrive at Chalice Well. For first time visitors this can often be the beginning of a long lasting relationship with the well. As a gatehouse volunteer, along with taking payment for entrance to the garden and our evening events, you will answer questions about the well, both past and present.

"I love my regular slot in the gatehouse at Chalice Well, really peaceful with lovely energy." Rose | Gatehouse Volunteer

"We meet so many wonderful and interesting people as we sit and work in the gatehouse. Many are like minded and open, so we are able to tell them about the sacred Well, the healing waters and the magical calming feeling we get when we sit and relax in the garden. A place of healing and a tonic for the soul! When it is quiet, I love to look out of the window into the garden. The beauty and peace I feel is amazing and takes me to another world." Lea | Gatehouse Volunteer

assist in our beautiful new

chalice well shop

We sell a wide range of books, jewellery, CD's, essences and art & craft work by local artists. All profits from our shop go to support the work of the Trust and maintain the well and gardens. Offering a welcoming place for people to browse and explore is key to the success of Chalice Well Shop and volunteers play a big role in providing this.

"Working in the shop is a lovely way to meet other people who also love the garden." Fiona | Shop Volunteer

"Volunteering at the Chalice Well shop is wonderful, not only do I get close to all the wonderful goods and books full of knowledge, I get close to people and very often exchange exceptional ideals and wisdom, straight from the heart. And of course, my reward is helping to make Chalice Well the beautiful peace sanctuary that it is, alongside incredible staff and volunteers." Maggie | Shop Volunteer

office & reception

The office and reception area of Chalice Well are often busy and vibrant, preparing for upcoming events, answering visitor and companion enquiries, and taking accommodation bookings. There are a range of volunteering opportunities, for example, sorting mail, filing, reception duties and answering the phone.

"Being allowed to work as a volunteer in The Chalice Well office and making a small contribution to this lovely place is the most fulfilling role I have ever undertaken. The office is unique for a volunteer because one gets to meet and work with not only our visitors but with every person in the Chalice Well family: volunteers, staff and trustees who are such a marvellous team. Just being part of it with them is a genuine privilege and allows me to return just a small part of what The Chalice Well has given me." John Downing-Gaines | Office Volunteer
