Newsletter for Companions and Garden Pass Holders of the Well
SEPTEMBER 2026
At Chalice Well we have been collaborating with our local further education Strode College in Street to offer valuable work experience and learning new skill sets for their young adults.
Strode College has just awarded Chalice Well their Certificate of Appreciation for creating a truly supportive environment for neuro-diverse young adults.
We provide training in different aspects of working at Chalice Well, including being part of a team, learning new skills, how to take on new responsibilities, and they are always closely supported by our team.

Our Facebook group Chalice Well Companions Official is a group forum to share your photos, experiences and your love about this wonderful living sanctuary.

Learn to co-create flower essences at Chalice Well
When people join one of our flower essence training courses, one of the most popular highlights is learning how to co-create a flower essence, in the garden.
Iris spoke to all of us about the importance of sovereignty and shining our light. You can discover more about our training courses, on our website:
Each workshop is £425. Please see chalicewell.org.uk/essences for more details or get in touch with us on 01458 831154
Meet Our People
Joshua is part of our reception office team at Chalice Well:
I love being in service here at the Well and feeling part of the sacred energy that is so inviting to people. I am often in the
Gatehouse welcoming visitors who are feeling a bit scattered and flustered sometimes. I notice how they can release tension and settle in the garden as the intangible energies here help them to drop into peacefulness.
My favourite place in the garden is close to the Wellhead, sitting on the bench under the lady yew trees watching the playful squirrels having fun chasing each other up and down
the trees.

Autumn Equinox 23 September
As the colours of Autumn warm our hearts, the earth offers her fruit and berries so that we may gather all that will sustain and nourish us through the colder months. We gather at the wellhead for a silent meditation at 12pm followed by our ceremony at the Vesica Pool.
Samhain Gathering 31 October
We invite you to the Wellhead at 12pm for a silent meditation followed by a pilgrimage to the Vesica Pool to give thanks to the ancestors & blessings to the waters. 16:00: SAMHAIN FIRE CEREMONY at the Guardian Yews beside the Samhain Fire, plus lighting a candle for the ancestors in King Arthur’s Court.

Love from the Garden
Next time you are retreating from the rain, or finding a cosy place to read a book, you can enjoy more views of the garden now that our team have added windows to the shelter. It has transformed this area into an inviting space.
Despite the intense heat, the garden has retained its welcoming colourful and nourishing environment for the bees and pollinators.

We have added some inspiring books because more children are visiting the Well. Unstoppable Me, written by Dr Wayne Dyer offers ideas to help children really enjoy life tips for dealing with stress and anxiety, the value of taking risks, and learning to enjoy each moment. £15

Love from the Waters
The 7-bowl Flowform honours the rhythm of the Well water as it flows down into the
Vesica Pool below.
Sculptor and water researcher, John Wilkes who pioneered Flowforms, installed it at Chalice Well in 1993. As the water moves in a figure of eight, in each bowl, it oscillates at the same rate as the human heart, making the Flowform one of the most relaxing places in the garden.
Wisdom & Inspiration
“the Spirit will re-illuminate all religious faiths. The new religion will be of service, fellowship and unity.”
Wellesley Tudor Pole
Alice Buckton supported the rights of women from her time in London, helping Octavia Hill improve slum dwellings with John Ruskin, to her time at Chalice Well where she set
up the Tor House Training College for Women, teaching home management, weaving, bee keeping, the history of educational reformers, social economics and legendary
drama.
Alice Buckton was the owner guardian of Chalice Well from 1913 until 1944. She was a pioneer in education, women’s emancipation, a celebrated playwright and poet.
Wellesley Tudor Pole founded the Chalice Well Trust in 1959 . In addition to being a prolific writer, so much of which is relevant for our time now, he also initiated the Silent Minute, which we observe at the Well twice a day.
