Earth Festival: Resting & Release

Chalice Well Wheel of the Year Earth Festivals | Resting

Late autumn is upon us, the harvest has been brought in, the long nights are drawing closer and we are left to ponder and dwell upon the past year, what we have accomplished and what needs completing so we may enter the dark time of the year with peace in our hearts, wholeness and quiet strength.

At a time when the year is turning and slowing into a time of retreat and stillness the ‘Samhain’ Essence steps forward to assist us with guidance from the spiritual realms and offers to hold and restore us. It supports us in gently stepping into our deep inner dreaming so we may listen and know what we need to release and ‘let go’ of so we may find completion and rest.

The Essence ‘Release’ was co-created during Samhain and comes from the range of Chalice Well Essences called the ‘Wheel of the Year’.

These essences were co-created by hundreds who gathered at the Well to observe and experience nature’s cycle through our eight Earth Festivals, First Stirring, Spring Equinox, Flowering, Summer Solstice, Fruition, Autumn Equinox, Resting and Winter Solstice.

These fall on the times of the indigenous Celtic Festivals of Imbolc, Spring Equinox, Beltane, Summer Solstice, Lammas, Autumn Equinox, Samhain and Winter Solstice.

During these ceremonies all present connect to the seasonal energies and each other and this is imprinted upon the water within the crystal bowl placed on the Well.

Although we are unable to hold a gathering in the gardens this year, we will be live streaming on our Facebook page two short meditations on Saturday 31 October, at midday and 6 pm.

Midday: Every day, at midday and 3 pm, we observe a silent minute in the garden, marked by the ringing of the bell. On Saturday this will be live streamed on our Facebook page for all those wishing to join us in a moment of simply being.

6 pm: For our Resting Earth Festival each year Ark, our Head Gardener, places hundreds of tealights around the waterfall in King Arthur’s Court as part of the evening event. Although we are not holding an evening event this year, we will observe another minute’s silence while live streaming the beautiful spectacle produced by the candlelit red waterfall.

Samhain is said to be a time when the veils between the worlds are thin and that our ancestors come close to offer insight, wisdom and to remind us of who we are and who we are becoming.

The Yew tree Essence supports us in going inwards so we may listen to our inner knowing and let it guide us through the winter months to come, to take all we have gathered in wisdom and knowledge through the past year letting it nourish and regenerate us. The Essence was co-created with all seven of the Yew trees in the garden and serves as a gateway that helps us to connect to the inner realms, our innate wisdom and the ancestors.

The Yew tree (Taxus baccata) is thought to be the oldest living plant in Europe, reaching up to around two thousand years of age and three metres in diameter. It is estimated that thought the Yew trees that stand sentinel above the vesica piscis pool are between 600 and 800 years old.

The Yew Essence is from the Original Nine, Chalice Well Essence range.

These nine essences contain a design for the unfoldment of human evolution and consciousness and can be taken in sequence or in any order, as intuitively guided.

Co-created and produced in the Chalice Well Gardens, they are an expression of the Spirit of the Chalice Well, providing a pathway and assistance for alignment and vibrational transmission to peace, joy and wholeness.
