Chalice Well Retreat Houses
A chance for quiet time, reflection, rest from your everyday life
Hi my name’s Robert,
I’m the Retreat Facilities Manager at Chalice Well.
With so many retreat centres to choose from, why stay at Little St Michael’s?
For more than fifty years pilgrims from all corners of the globe have been welcomed to Little St Michael’s retreat house, a place where many paths cross, many faiths converge; a place to share experience, beliefs and personal truth, or a place to simply stop, be still, turn inward and take back to the world the peace to be found here.
Built around 1600, a Grade ll listed building located on the slopes of Glastonbury Tor, Little St Michael’s retreat house is situated within the Chalice Well Garden, sacred heart centre of the Isle of Avalon, and spiritual jewel in the Western Mystery tradition.
Inside, simple, homely bedrooms, a quiet relaxing living room and library, a well equipped kitchen and dining area, and in the eaves the hallowed Upper Room, a holy space kept solely for prayer, reflection and meditation.
Become a Companion of Chalice Well, take a retreat at Little St Michael’s, and the Garden is yours, not just during opening times, but when the public have left, and at any hour you choose.
We look forward to welcoming you to Little St Michael’s retreat house and the Chalice Well Garden.

An opportunity to further spiritual journeys
Our aim is to provide you with a clear, clean space; a space to simply be and to experience a deeper peace. Peace away from mobile phones and electronic equipment, from Wi-Fi signals and social media: simple peace.
We provide teas, coffee and milk sachets. You can bring your own vegetarian food – or wander into Glastonbury to enjoy the range of independent restaurants and cafes.
Little St Michael’s is a 16th century retreat house with six bedrooms, a comfortable sitting room with a small library, fully equipped kitchen and dining room and is available for guests over the age of 18.
There is an adjoining door in the dining room which gives access to our Meeting Room, offering groups on retreat a place to hold workshops, training sessions and seminars.
Chalice Well Lodge is a 19th century two bedded house with a contemporary style with a sofa bed to extend the accommodation to 6 people.
In order to stay at Chalice Well you need to be a companion.
